Metso to Supply Primary Crushing System to Associated Manganese Limited -- ASSMANG -- in South Africa


HELSINKI, Finland, April 7, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Minerals will supply crushing equipment to Associated Manganese Limited (ASSMANG) for its new BKM iron ore expansion project in the Northern Cape Province, South Africa. The project will be completed by November 2007. The value for the equipment is approximately EUR 12.5 million. The order has been booked in the order book for the first quarter of 2006.

The delivery comprises a primary gyratory crusher, a secondary cone crusher and three tertiary cone crushers, auxiliary equipment as well as erection and commissioning of the units. Once in operation, the system will be able to process approximately 15 million tons of iron ore per year. The crushed ore will be exported as raw material to its clients around the world.

This is the first time that an MP type cone crusher, suited for hard, tough mining operations, is being installed in Southern Africa. ASSMANG is a supplier of raw material to the world's steel mills and alloy plants. Its Iron Ore Division mines iron ore mainly for export purposes.
