Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Selects Avolent for Electronic Billing Solution

Online Billing and Customer Self-Service Solution Will Improve Customer Service and Operating Efficiencies

SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Avolent announced today that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) is implementing Avolent's Interactive, Self-Service Electronic Billing and Payment software as the framework for the company's Consolidated Billing Presentment and Payment application (CBPP). Avolent's eBilling software will enable BCBSF customers to manage their accounts, review and reconcile bills and statements, and initiate and track payments, which ultimately will improve customer service, reduce costs and create a competitive advantage for BCBSF.

"Avolent's solid understanding of the unique issues faced by health insurers was a key factor in our choice of the Avolent solution," said Earnie Franklin, Vice President of Information Technology/Customer Relationship Management at BCBSF. "We wanted a self-service billing and payment solution that could address the needs of different audiences including consumers, employer groups, channel partners and brokers while also helping to increase efficiencies and decrease administrative costs. Avolent helps us accomplish these goals."

BCBSF is approaching the concept of self-service in the "Invoice to Cash Process" as a competitive advantage in customer service and as a method to reduce operational and administrative costs. Through new features and functionality, the company anticipates savings of nearly $1-3 million dollars annually with the new CBPP solution versus previous billing and payment procedures.

"We are pleased that BCBSF selected Avolent to be the cornerstone of the company's CBPP application," stated Doug Roberts, chief executive officer of Avolent. "BCBSF's choice of Avolent reinforces the value our solution offers to healthcare insurers and the importance of customer self-service in driving operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction."
