STUDIO CITY, Calif., April 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Tix Corporation (the "Company") (OTCBB:TIXC) is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tix4Tonight, which sells half-price, same-day show tickets on the Las Vegas Strip, achieved record results for the first quarter of 2006.
Preliminary data reflect a 111% increase in gross ticket sales for the first quarter of 2006 over the same period in 2005. The number of tickets sold increased 95% in 2006 as compared to the same period in 2005. Tix4Tonight has broken its monthly record of ticket sales for each month since October 2005.
Mitch Francis, CEO, commented, "We are very encouraged by these results, which reflect continuing and substantial growth. We attribute the increase in business to the completion of three new ticketing facilities during 2005. Additionally, we have been successful in obtaining tickets for many additional top-tier shows which are being offered daily at our four Las Vegas facilities. It is quite a thrill to see long lines in front of each of our ticketing facilities at opening every day." Mr. Francis continued, "This growth trend began in 2005, when we experienced a 70% increase in ticket sales over 2004, as set forth in the Company's December 31, 2005, Annual Report on Form 10-KSB, which was recently filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission."
Tix4Tonight sells tickets for Las Vegas shows, concerts, attractions and sporting events at half-price, on the same day of the performance. Tix4Tonight has four prime ticket booth facilities, strategically placed at highly foot-trafficked locations in Las Vegas. They include the Hawaiian Marketplace at the South end of the Strip, the Fashion Show Mall in front of Neiman Marcus, directly across the street from the new Wynn Resort at the middle of the Strip, North Strip, across from the Stardust Hotel, and a new downtown Las Vegas facility in the Four Queens Hotel, fronting onto the Fremont Street Experience.
Tix4Tonight's hours are from noon to 9 p.m., seven days a week, at all locations. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis with the shows posted on screens at the ticket booths starting at 11:30 a.m. each day.
