SecureSingles.com to Prevent Dating Disasters and Increase Online Safety

Free Personal Emergency Notification System Offers Unique Safety Tool for Singles

SAN DIEGO, April 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Secure Networks USA (SECNETUSA) today unveiled a free security platform for the online and offline dating community called SecureSingles.com. This solution features the web-based Personal Emergency Notification System (PENS), designed to provide time-released emergency messages via email, instant message (IM) or Mobile phone text messages to a pre-designated list of loved ones in case an emergency should occur while on a date.

According to a TopDatingTips.com survey, 78 percent of people don't believe that their date is 100 percent truthful. Further, the same survey reported that 67 percent of people do not trust their companion on a first date. Secure Singles includes a proprietary notification system, which allows users to schedule messages in advance to be sent to a pre-selected list of loved ones (friends, family, etc.) or the authorities via IM, SMS text message and/or email (coming soon: land-based telephone lines). If the user does not check in to cancel the notification (which he/she can also do via cell phone because the site is mobile) the notifications will be automatically sent.

Law enforcement officials estimate that as many as 50,000 sexual predators are online at any given moment (Dateline NBC, January 2006). SecureSingles.com was created by SECNETUSA - a team of safety-conscious parents and single professionals who were alarmed by the prevalence of dating disasters and online predator stories that continue to be reported around the world.

Secure Singles users create complete folders to store pertinent information about the people they are dating (contact info, employer/occupation, photos, phone number, address, location of date, etc.) which the system will forward to designated contacts should the need arise.

"There are more than 100 million single people living in the U.S. today and 40 million of them are using online dating and social networking services," said Jenny Gilcrest, spokeswoman for Secure Networks. "With the online dating pool escalating at such a rapid rate, there is a critical need for dating singles (especially women) to adopt a personal safety system to help protect themselves against potentially tragic dating scenarios such as date rape, abduction, injury, etc. Secure Singles is the first to offer a free, online solution that can be easily incorporated into the single person's lifestyle, without disrupting the excitement and fun involved in dating."

The Secure Singles system offers a spectrum of safety precautions for its users. For example, a user could create a 'fake' emergency message and schedule to have it sent to their mobile phone via text message in the middle of a date, to serve as a reasonable excuse to get out of an uncomfortable situation. For an even higher level of protection, a Secure Singles user could schedule a timed release notification to be sent to her designated contact/s before she goes on a date or during the date (from her mobile phone), to let them know who she is with, where she is going and when she is expected to return. Should an emergency occur and she does not cancel the notification, her loved ones will receive her notification by email, SMS text, and/or IM with the information to access the detailed information folder about the individual whom she was with.

Should a Secure Singles user wish to 'disable' a notification that is scheduled to go out to her designated contact/s during a date, she can easily access the Secure Singles mobile site from her mobile phone to cancel the notification. The system is compatible with most web-enabled mobile phones.

SecureSingles.com also provides all of its members with a 'Security Seal' and encourages them to post it as they would any other image or photo when creating a BLOG, joining a new online community or online dating site to ward off online predators. By taking this additional precautionary measure, the user shows that they are conscious and proactive about their personal safety.
