DonHarrold.net Commentary -- April 06, 2006

The other day a guy I know said, "Day trading is too risky, but the options market is, 'as serene as a produce market'."

But, I'll tell you what, if you want "risk", look no further than trading options on CMGI (Nasdaq:CMGI). One analyst said recently, "Daytrading used to be profitable when they used the fraction system (because the spread was large due to fractional trading)." But, let me ask you this, do you agree? Was it really so profitable?

Subsequently, option trading is an ongoing educational experience. Yes, there is risk. But, the rewards for a stock like CMGI could be nice. Here's a stock that is priced like an option. (Yeah, I know you can't trade options on a $1.50 stock...)

So, in effect, a trade on CMGI is like a trade on an option. At these levels any upswing will be a high-percent gain. Yet, unlike an option play, CMGI does not have the "time value" associated with it as a similarly priced option.

My current rating on CMGI is "Weak Buy", but if the market turns higher, look out above!
