Powerball Jackpot Heats Up to Estimated $220 Million

CT Lottery Encourages Consumers to Travel 'Inland' for Powerball Purchases

NEW BRITAIN, Conn., April 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Increased sales and customer lines can develop as the Powerball(r) jackpot, now at an estimated $220 million for the April 12, 2006 drawing, nears. The drawing will take place at 10:59 pm.

Connecticut's border towns are hardest hit when Powerball's jackpot swells. To avoid waiting in ticket-buying lines, the CT Lottery encourages consumers to travel "inland" for their Powerball purchases. Just a few minutes additional travel could save time waiting in lines.

Nearly 2,800 CT Lottery retailers sell Powerball tickets. Consumers can call the CT Lottery's toll-free "Hotline" at 1-877-433-0303 for additional Powerball information or log onto www.ctlottery.org. The CT Lottery reminds consumers to "Play Responsibly."

The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 36.61. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 146,107,962. Consumers must be 18 or older to purchase Lottery tickets.
