U-Haul Ranks Austin, Texas and Boise, Idaho Top 2005 Growth Cities

PHOENIX, April 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- U-Haul, celebrating 60 years of serving the do-it-yourself household moving industry, today released results of the U-Haul National Migration Trend Report reflecting the nation's top growth areas for families who moved during 2005. The 2005 Top Growth Cities Report indicates that for cities with more than 10,000 families moving, Austin, Texas, has the highest percentage of growth, with 6.48 percent more families moving into the area than out. For cities with 5,000 -10,000 families moving, Boise, Idaho had the highest percentage of growth for the second year in a row, with 12.85 percent.

"The report, reflective of growth patterns of the United States during 2005, was compiled based on nationwide trends in cities of all sizes and reflects communities with more than 5,000 families moving in or out of the area," said John "J.T." Taylor, U-Haul executive vice president. "Growth cities were then determined by calculating the percentage of inbound moves vs. outbound moves for each area."

The 2005 Top Growth Cities Report was compiled from more than 1.58 million U-Haul transactions between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2005. A complete copy of the National Migration Trend Report follows.
