JIN -- Japan Information Network Going Global

NEW YORK, April 21, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Japan Information Network (JIN) (http://global-jin.com; mirror site: http://www.jinjapan.org) is an internet website planned and inaugurated by Prof. Makoto Asabuki, and it was operated by the Japan Center for Intercultural Communications (JCIC) until 20th June, 2005.

Prof. Asabuki was the Managing Director and CEO of JCIC and now he is the owner of the copyright of JIN. JIN is now operated by the Japan Information Network, Inc. (JIN Inc.)

JIN has been introducing Japan's politics, economy, society and culture, and enhancing overseas understanding of Japan.

JIN was first created through JCIC and funds raised by Prof. Asabuki. It was a network that utilized a dedicated international line to connect a host computer in Japan with terminal computers at universities, Japan research institutes and Japanese diplomatic missions located overseas. JIN has been disseminating information about Japan to the world through computers since 1985 by Prof. Asabuki, and was Japan's first computer network for the transmission of information about Japan.

Taking the global spread of the Internet into consideration, Prof. Asabuki took its JIN Project one step further in 1995 by establishing the JIN website on the internet. One of its content sites called JIN Facts was named Web Japan after 1st April 2004 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now owns its copyright.

JIN has just added a new director to its board, Mr. Kevin K. Ochi. Mr. Ochi will be heading up JIN's entertainment sector, and is one of Japan's favorite and most recognizable television stars. Mr. Ochi's main goal is promoting alternative media in Japan.

As the portal site of Japan, JIN Top Page links not only to Web Japan, but also to the government, the parliament, the Prime Court, local government (towns), opinion, business and urgent sites. News, Japan overview, guide, television, audio and commerce sites will come soon.

JIN Portal Site is now sponsored by Hitachi, Mitsui, Nichia, Nikon, Nomura, Ricoh, Toyota, and Yamaha, and the business site is sponsored by Geos, HIS and Lotte. Their e-mail address is portal@global-jin.com

The board of directors of JIN is a virtual Who's Who list of Japan's top government and private sector companies. The focus of JIN is to generate revenue and is cultural, not only for the world to see, but for the young Japanese to be able to feel and touch their roots as well as stay current on the coolest and most current information in and about Japan. With JIN's millions of page views and with their plans of expansion into the cell phone markets, JIN is now developing content in 12 languages.

JIN is in the development stages for its online auction service in twelve different languages for the world market, allowing buyers and sellers to connect globally! JIN is enabled by the Northeast Media Group. Northeast Media Group provides celebrity driven content and relationships worldwide.
