Buying stocks under a dollar might be something no one should do unless you're involved with the company itself or you know something. If you watch my video commentary (as a paid member) you'll see that I don't often suggest "penny stocks".
Daytrading penny stocks is no longer glorified like back in 2000 and before. Someone once said,"the stock market is doing bad so they can actively rebuy their own shares for prices below their actual value." In the case of penny stocks, "below actual value" may mean "way below". Another way to say it is, day traders who trade penny stocks are sometimes at risk of losing it all as a company's value has be so decimated as to be beyond repair.
Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT), Juniper Networks (Nasdaq:JNPR), Halliburton Co (NYSE:HAL), and Merrill Lynch & Co (NYSE:MER) are all stocks that I think are in short term downdrafts. Yet, I do not believe any of them are near a point where they'll wind up as "penny stocks". If you are trading these four, I see downside ahead (hence the sell ratings) but I do not see that it is time to panic, just yet.
