Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman Appoints Jeffrey Q. Palombo and John D. Stanfill to Lead Electronic Systems Business Areas


ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., April 24, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed Jeffrey Q. Palombo and John D. Stanfill to lead significant business areas within the company's Electronic Systems sector, effective immediately.

Jeffrey Q. Palombo has been appointed vice president of Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM) for the Defensive Systems Division with executive responsibility for the execution of all programs across the IRCM portfolio including Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM), Large Aircraft Countermeasures (LAIRCM) and the company's Guardian(tm) Counter Man-Portable Air Defense System (C-MANPADS) which features the Mini Pointer/Tracker missile detection system.

Palombo joined the company in 2003 as president of Amherst Systems where he was responsible for developing, producing and delivering laboratory simulation and open-air range simulation training systems for both domestic and international customers.

Palombo earned a bachelor's degree in business and marketing from Adelphi University. In addition, he has completed Hofstra University's management program in government contracts administration as well as extensive coursework in electrical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York.

Succeeding Palombo as president of Amherst Systems is John D. Stanfill, who will be responsible for the successful execution of all Amherst Systems programs as well as operations at the Buffalo, N.Y. facility.

Stanfill joined the company in 1987 and has held a variety of positions within the engineering, business development and program management disciplines. He most recently served as director of IRCM Commercial Programs for the Defensive Systems Division.

Stanfill earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of South Florida and a master's degree in business administration from Duke University. He has completed executive education programs at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at Harvard University in addition to postgraduate work in laser physics at the University of South Florida.
