Eliminate Stress, Increase Efficiency -- Author Uses Stress Models to Find Solutions to Productivity Problems in Professional Organizations

NEW YORK, April 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- In her new book, De Toepasbaarheid van Enkele Stressmodellen en de relatie met verander en stressmanagement in de werksituatie: The Applicability of Several Stress Models and the Relation to Change and Stress Management in the Working Situation (now available through AuthorHouse) Elisabeth van der Gulik analyzes how stress in various work environments impacts the overall success of the company. Her efforts guide managers to creative problem solving techniques.

The book contains two parts, one written in Dutch and one in English, and the content reveals Van der Gulik's personal experience and years of research, offering a comprehensive study of stress in the workplace. It calls attention to the consequences of stress in relation to different organization models and offers examples of where possible bottle necks can occur as a result of negative working conditions.

The stress models focus on basic factors that can affect employee performance: the type of skill or labor performed, individual circumstances, work conditions and relationships on the job. Through thorough exploration of these elements, van der Gulik guides managers and professional leaders to solutions that can best benefit their company. In order to clearly define and delineate a variety of needs, the book divides organizations into three categories: functional, market and matrix. A chapter is devoted to each type. In the fourth chapter, comparisons and conclusions are presented. Preventive measures to keep stress out of the workplace are detailed in the fifth chapter.

A useful resource for managers, employees and those who conduct research in professional productivity and relationships, van der Gulik's book offers guidelines for developing a positive work environment.

Van der Gulik has a diploma in analytical chemistry from Westeinde Hospital in The Hague, Netherlands; a diploma of medicine from Nijmegen, Netherlands; a certificate of social medical assessment from the Netherlands School of Public Health in Utrecht; and a certificate of basic counseling and coaching. She also completed a course in common and experimental oncology in Villejuif, France. She has worked as an analytical chemist, an assistant physician and research associate in pathology, a medical advisor and a physician in assurance medicine and occupational health services.
