Harsco Promotes Gerson as Chief Information Officer


HARRISBURG, Pa., April 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that Scott H. Gerson has been promoted to the position of Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Company effective May 1, 2006.

Prior to joining Harsco in early 2005 as Vice President - Information Technology, Mr. Gerson held increasingly important senior management positions within the IT discipline, including responsibility for worldwide IT application services and systems strategy at Kulicke & Soffa Industries as well as IT management positions with Compaq Computers and TRW. He holds an Engineering degree from Iowa State University and has completed extensive coursework in business administration at the graduate level.
