UK's Association of Chief Police Officers Responds to Amnesty International's Taser Report

WASHINGTON, April 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert:

According to a news release published by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) with services in England, Whales and Northern Ireland, Derek Talbot, an ACPO spokesperson on TASER and Assistant Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police, endorsed TASER(R) devices on Tuesday, citing them as tool that has brought serious incidents to "safe conclusion(s) with no lasting injury to the subject, the police officers involved or members of the public."

Talbot's remarks were backed by findings from the DOMILL, a sub-committee of the Defense Scientific Advisory Council that has concluded through research "there is no unequivocal evidence that the electrical output of a TASER has directly caused a death."

TASER devices have now been used 326 times by British Police that have been specially trained to use the device. Talbot believes that TASER devices provide his police force with an alternative to lethal firearms. "We believe that TASER ultimately reduces the risk to officers, offenders and members of the public," said Talbot.
