Bombardier Aerospace Selects EMS SATCOM AMT-3800 High-Gain Antenna for Global Business Jet Family

GENEVA, May 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), reported today that Bombardier Aerospace has selected the company's eNfusion(tm) AMT-3800 high-gain antenna as an approved factory option on its ultra long-range Global(see Note) Express XRS and super-large Bombardier Global 5000(a) business jets. The AMT-3800 antenna joins the company's AMT-50 tail-mounted high-gain antenna as an option available to aircraft purchasers.

"The rise in demand for high quality voice and high-speed Internet, particularly on longer-range aircraft like the Global Express XRS and the Bombardier Global 5000, is a growing trend that indicates that passengers want and need to be productive and connected in flight," notes senior vice president and general manager at EMS SATCOM, Neil Mackay. "Our eNfusion AMT-50 tail-mounted antenna has been flying on Bombardier(a) aircraft since 1996. The AMT-3800 antenna now adds installation flexibility to their options portfolio. Its low-profile fuselage-mounted design is attractive to aircraft manufacturers, and helps make in-flight broadband a reality for a wider variety of aircraft."

The eNfusion AMT-3800 antenna is an Inmarsat-based high-gain antenna (HGA) that was designed to fit smaller aircraft, but provides sleek lower-weight connectivity on larger aircraft as well. The lower profile antenna is a good fit for the Global Express XRS and the Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft, the first business jets to feature the Ethernet-based Airshow 21 cabin electronic system application, including a host of entertainment options and baseline high-speed data connectivity.

"The growing demand for worldwide voice and in-flight broadband connectivity means that checking e-mail and surfing the Internet while in-flight are becoming the norm for passengers," said Duncan Koerbel, vice president and general manager, Bombardier Global aircraft. "Having a variety of antenna options from a reliable single source supplier like EMS SATCOM means customers enjoy a wider choice and increased flexibility to meet their in-flight communications requirements."

The pioneering Global Express XRS business jet features the largest cabin of any purpose-built corporate aircraft -- offering 28 per cent more cabin volume and 45 per cent more floor space than its closest competitor. Designed to provide a highly productive working environment and deliver ultimate comfort, the cabin features a 6-foot, 3-inch (1.91-m) stand up height, and a three-compartment configuration. No other business jet in its class matches the high speed range capability delivered by the Global Express XRS.

The high speed Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft offers superior speed as well as the most advanced business jet cabin. The aircraft's category leading speed is most evident on intercontinental flights where it completes routes such as New York-Sao Paulo, Chicago-Frankfurt and San Francisco-Lima a full hour faster than other aircraft in its class.
