ATLANTA, May 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for April 2006 (see notes 1 and 2). System traffic for April 2006 decreased 5.9 percent from April 2005 with a capacity decrease of 7.3 percent. Delta's system load factor was 77.6 percent in April 2006, up 1.2 points from the same period last year.
Domestic traffic in April 2006 decreased 11.6 percent year over year, and capacity decreased 13.5 percent. Domestic load factor in April 2006 was 77.2 percent, up 1.6 points from the same period a year ago. International traffic in April 2006 increased 13.9 percent year over year on a 15.1 percent increase in capacity. International load factor was 78.5 percent, down 0.8 points from April 2005.
During April 2006, Delta operated its schedule at a 98.9 percent completion rate compared to 98.4 percent in April 2005. Delta boarded 8.8 million passengers during the month of April 2006, a decrease of 14.6 percent from April 2005. Detailed traffic and capacity are attached.
