Lupi Vino Cucina Salutes Roman Spring

Celebrates Third Year in La Jolla


LA JOLLA, Calif., May 8, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lupi Vino Cucina, a popular owner-operated Italian dining establishment located in the seaside community of La Jolla within the residential area of Birdrock, today announced the introduction of a special seasonal menu designed to highlight the abundance of spring produce and emphasize lighter fare. Its wine list has also been expanded to complement the menu with spring and summer white wines selections.

"At Lupi, we celebrate the seasons. The San Diego climate offers an abundant and extensive variety of fresh produce, enabling Lupi to showcase its culinary talents and the distinct seasons of Southern California. For me, no city better represents spring than Rome, and the food of Rome provides eternal inspiration, diversity and satisfaction. I am delighted to share the Roman spirit and my heritage with our customers by offering a menu that celebrates the outdoor life and a healthy appreciation of nature's diversity," said chef and co-proprietor, Luigi Tornatore.

Lupi's new "Roman Spring" menu offerings include: gamberetti al porto d'ostia (sauteed rock shrimp), crostini ai funghi e zucchini (mushrooms and zucchini), pizza rustica (prosciutto, potatoes, rosemary, arugula), pappardelle alla romana wild mushrooms, prosciutto, anchovies), risotto al sugo de scampi e asparagi, and valdostana di maiale (stuffed pork loin). Many of the restaurant's established favorites will continue to be available on the menu, as well as daily specials. As the day stays lighter longer, the restaurant will offer expanded outdoor seating for lunch and dinner.

Lupi opened in August 2003 and has been recognized by the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association as one of the best new Italian restaurants. Lupi is located at 5518 La Jolla Boulevard, La Jolla, California 92037.
