ClassicWines.com Expands Its Online Guide to Classic Wine

New Product Manager Joins the Growing Firm

CHESTER, Pa., May 8, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Wine has been produced and enjoyed for more than 7,000 years, and these days, it is more popular than ever. Retail sales of wine, through web sites and online merchants, are surging. At the same time, the restrictive laws governing the sale and distribution of wine are relaxing. As a result, "The next revolution in the wine industry will not come from wineries, but from web sites," says Mark Spangler, the new product manager of ClassicWines.com.

ClassicWines.com has joined this new revolution with its recent expansion of operations, highlighted by the addition of Mr. Spangler. A recent graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Management Information Systems and experience in web development and eCommerce, Spangler intends to lead ClassicWines.com to the top of this burgeoning consumer market. ClassicWines.com has seen traffic double in each month of its operation, providing consumers with product information and a marketplace of sellers who will ship wine directly to them.

"ClassicWines.com will be the Amazon.com of the wine industry," predicts Spangler. "Its combination of expert advice, wine recommendations for specific occasions and budgets, and consumer feedback will bring a better understanding of wine to the general public." Spangler is capitalizing on the expertise of the founders of ClassicWines.com, a group of three entrepreneurs that includes a wine expert, a graphic design expert, and a business development expert. The wine expert is Brian Freedman, a print and television food and wine journalist, wine consultant, and instructor and featured lecturer at The Wine School of Philadelphia. Freedman's writing is a popular feature on ClassicWines.com, as are the links to the growing number of online retailers who list their products on ClassicWines.com.
