CBS Sports' Ken Aagaard Named Sports Video Group Advisory Board Chairman

Sports Industry Leader to Help Guide SVG Industry-Wide Initiatives


NEW YORK, May 9, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Sports Video Group, the sport's industry's leading technology association, has named Ken Aagaard, CBS Sports senior vice president of operations and production, as chairman of its advisory board. The SVG advisory board is comprised of technology leaders in sports production for television, broadband and mobile devices who are dedicated to advancing sports content creation and distribution.

Mr. Aagaard will continue to serve in his current role at CBS Sports, where he oversees operations, engineering and production management for all field events and the CBS Broadcast Center. His duties include logistics and technical support for the network's coverage of the National Football League, NCAA basketball, and professional golf coverage.

"I look forward to having a chance to leading those initiatives and helping the SVG grow into a vital organization for sports broadcast and production professionals."

Before joining CBS Sports in 1988 Mr. Aagaard worked at NBC where he served as NBC Olympics VP operations and engineering from 1985-1988 and NBC Sports VP, operations, from 1981-1985. He is also president of Creative Broadcast Techniques, a show packaging and consulting firm that has worked on live concert events for HBO and World Cup soccer coverage, including the 2006 World Cup this summer.

The Sports Video Group was formed in 2005 to support the professional community that relies on video, audio, and broadband technologies to produce and distribute sports content. Leagues, owners, teams, players, broadcasters, Web casters and consumer technology providers have joined the SVG to learn from each other, turn vision into reality and implement new innovations that will lead to advancements in the sports production/distribution process and the overall consumer sports experience.

In his new role as chairman, Mr. Aagaard will help to oversee SVG's current projects, which include launching educational and training programs as well as building the industry's first Venue Database, an online resource for industry professionals looking for stadium and arena contact and technical information. SVG is building the database in partnership with the Stadium Managers Association whose members include representatives from every Major League Baseball, National Football League and major college stadiums.

Mr. Aagaard earned a bachelor's degree in radio, television and film from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, I.A., in 1969 and has worked in the sports industry for 37 years.
