Braintech Continues Dominance of Vision Guided Robotic Systems

A Three System Order to be Installed at a Major North American Automaker's Transmission Facility

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 30, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Braintech, Inc. (OTCBB:BRHI), a leading provider of Vision Guided Robotic (VGR) software solutions, announced today that it continues to add to its installed base with new orders for its eVisionFactory(tm), (eVF(tm)) software from global robotics giant, ABB. eVF provides vision capabilities for ABB's new TrueView(tm) VGR systems.

Three (3) new systems are to be installed at a North American Automaker's transmission facility, marking its eighth facility to select TrueView. Demonstrating the power and flexibility of the eVF platform, these cells will utilize Braintech's Xi2D(tm), IDM2.5D(tm) and SC3D(tm) guidance technologies within the same TrueView robot cells.

These TrueView systems will be used to automate packing-in and packing-out of gear parts. eVF will locate the parts in dunnage, and then accurately place them into a fixture to be machined. eVF is again used to locate the completed machined parts and accurately load them back into the dunnage.

Another key technology, TrueView's newly developed "Variable LED Lighting" package allows for vision processing of eight different colours of dunnage. The ability to automatically vary robot mounted lighting eliminates the sensitivity that competitors' systems have when attempting to process several different styles of parts or dunnage.

Jerry Osborn, Vice President and General Manager of ABB's Robot Automation group, stated, "TrueView is now built into the customer's specifications for material handling cells of this nature. This is a result of our painstaking commitment to system standardization at all levels -- including the vision hardware, the eVF software platform, and our integration and service procedures. TrueView is the only VGR system that is both scalable and supportable on a global basis."

Owen Jones, Braintech's CEO, commented, "We're pleased with the growing market penetration of ABB's TrueView systems and we believe the market will continue to expand, in this case, with a new type of TrueView system into an existing customer's plant."
