Police TASER Device Prevents Suicide

WASHINGTON, May 31, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from the Decatur Daily News in Alabama, a 36-year-old man called Decatur police Friday night threatening suicide. Officers found the man on the back porch of the house in the 100 block of Grant Street Southeast repeatedly stabbing himself in the knee with a large knife. After failed attempts to talk the man into putting the knife down, Sgt. Roger Huntzinger deployed his TASER device, subduing the man long enough to take away the knife and restrain him.

The man was taken to Decatur General Hospital for his self-inflicted stab wounds. Police spokesman Lt. Chris Mathews said the man suffered no injuries from the TASER device.
