ATLANTA, June 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for May 2006 (see notes 1 and 2). System traffic for May 2006 decreased 9.7 percent from May 2005 with a capacity decrease of 10.0 percent. Delta's system load factor was 76.7 percent in May 2006, up 0.4 points from the same period last year.
Domestic traffic in May 2006 decreased 17.1 percent year over year, and capacity decreased 18.1 percent. Domestic load factor in May 2006 was 75.8 percent, up 0.9 points from the same period a year ago. International traffic in May 2006 increased 13.6 percent year over year on a 17.3 percent increase in capacity. International load factor was 78.7 percent, down 2.6 points from May 2005.
During May 2006, Delta operated its schedule at a 99.0 percent completion rate compared to 98.8 percent in May 2005. Delta boarded 8.8 million passengers during the month of May 2006, a decrease of 16.6 percent from May 2005. Detailed traffic and capacity are attached.

(2) On September 7, 2005, Delta completed the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc. (ASA) to SkyWest Airlines, Inc. Operating performance after that date is reflected in our contract carrier flying.
