Midlands Orthopedic Selects Mediware's Perioperative Solution Suite to Support Growth

Orthopedic Surgery Center will Implement Mediware's Perioperative Management Software to Realize Growth and Efficiency Goals

LENEXA, Kan., June 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mediware Information Systems (Nasdaq:MEDW) announced today that Midlands Orthopedic, P.A. has selected Mediware's Perioperative Solution suite to automate charting, scheduling and documenting procedures to support the growing orthopedic surgery center. Midlands was founded by Dr. Richard J. Davis in 1981 and has grown to include 14 physicians and 3 offices in the Greater Columbia, SC area.

"We are realizing tremendous growth and previously have managed our processes without the support of automated tools," said Belinda Ruteledge, Midlands Orthopedic Director of Surgical Services. "We needed a solution to ensure we were focused on providing excellent care for our patients while managing our resources, patient care and profitability. We chose Mediware's PS suite of tools to realize these goals."

The implementation of Mediware's suite of perioperative management tools will enable the growing center to automate processes that would have become unmanageable as the firm continues its growth. Plans include using the base Perioperative Solutions suite to effectively manage, deliver and document pre-op, intra-op and PACU care. Midlands will also leverage Mediware's PS Clinical Intelligence and PS Tracker modules to enhance business management and enable profitability from the first day of operations.

Mediware's solution, ranked No. 1 in user satisfaction for two consecutive quarters by MD Buyline, provides operating room environments and stand alone surgery centers the ability to schedule, chart and document operating room procedures. Critical to Midlands was their ability to input data in the system one time and have this accessible throughout the patient care lifecycle-a feature called "seamless touch processing" or STP-which saves time and decreases input related errors.

Midlands will also leverage the PS Clinical Intelligence module to automate pre-operation setup procedures based on the physicians' preferences and type of procedures being performed. This capability saves time in scheduling and preparation which yields operational effectiveness and improves billing accuracy.

"We are very pleased to add Midlands Orthopedic to our family of customers," said Paul O'Toole, vice president and general manager of Mediware's Perioperative Solutions Division. "They are a well respected, growing surgical care provider that values high quality care and good business management -- values Mediware has embodied for the past 20 years."
