Wall Street Journal to Introduce Talking Tech, a Weekly Q&A Column With Technology Leaders Discussing Latest Issues Facing Industry and Consumers

New Column Authored by San Francisco-Based Lee Gomes; Column Begins on June 13

NEW YORK, June 12, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Wall Street Journal will introduce "Talking Tech," a new weekly question-and-answer column with technology leaders who will discuss their products and views on trends, beginning June 13. The column will be authored by the Journal's San Francisco-based technology columnist Lee Gomes.

"Talking Tech" will run every Tuesday in the Journal's acclaimed Marketplace section, on a page featuring enhanced coverage of business and enterprise technology. It also will appear in the Journal's Asia and Europe editions and will be carried on The Wall Street Journal Online, the leading subscription news site on the Web.

"Talking Tech will be a to-the-point, incisive weekly conversation with some of the most important people in technology: company executives, leading researchers, industry analysts, entrepreneurs, venture, capitalists, investors and, of course, end users," said Paul E. Steiger, Managing Editor of The Wall Street Journal. "These columns will be as diverse as technology itself so to serve our readers broad range of interests and needs."

Talking Tech will allow industry leaders in technology to discuss their work in their own words. One week, it might feature a person running a corporate data base; the following week, it might be a university professor discussing breakthrough ideas about redesigning the Internet; another week, it could feature the youthful founder of a garage start-up who is intent on making his company the next Microsoft, Oracle or Google.

The Wall Street Journal is a well established leader as a forum for technology companies to communicate their respective brand strategies. One of the highlights of the year in technology was the recently held D: All Things Digital conference. Technology leaders from all disciplines attended the conference which showcased presentations by industry titans including Bill Gates of Microsoft, Howard Stringer of Sony and Terry Semel of Yahoo.

Lee Gomes' column will appeal to a global audience, which is likely to include chief technology and information officers, senior executives and others who make decisions about buying and using technology, as well as venture capitalists and people in tech industries.

Lee Gomes already writes the Journal's popular Portals column about technology that runs every Wednesday on the front of Marketplace. Mr. Gomes has been writing Portals since 2002, and before that was a technology reporter in the Journal's San Francisco bureau.
