MTPCS to Become the Eighth U.S. Carrier Network to Deploy Polaris Wireless Location Technology

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Polaris Wireless, the inventor of Wireless Location Signatures (WLS(tm)), and MTPCS today announced that the carrier will deploy Polaris WLS(tm) technology in its Chinook Wireless GSM network to meet the Federal Communications Commission's Phase II E911 compliance requirements.

MTPCS will install the highly reliable Polaris WLS(tm) technology in its Montana network, beginning this quarter, to enable public safety organizations to dispatch appropriate emergency assistance to Chinook Wireless subscribers and roamers.

MTPCS is the fifth U.S. carrier to deploy the Polaris WLS(tm) technology and the eighth carrier network to rely on Polaris WLS(tm) for the location of its customers and roamers. To date the Polaris product has been deployed in networks totaling 8,000 cell sites and over two million square kilometers.

"We chose Polaris after comparing the network-based technologies and talking extensively with their customers," said Marc LeClair, Chief Technical Officer of MTPCS. "We believe that the Polaris WLS(tm) software-based product provides the most accurate, reliable way to quickly and completely enhance the safety of our customers."

A breakthrough in wireless location technology, the Polaris WLS(tm) product resides on standard servers and requires no modifications to handsets or cell sites. The only software-based wireless location technology, Polaris WLS(tm) requires no additional hardware or backhaul for cell sites, dramatically reducing capital expenditures, deployment timeframes and maintenance costs for wireless carriers.

"MTPCS further extends the Polaris product reach into the rural carrier market," said Manlio Allegra, CEO of Polaris Wireless. "This carrier's selection of Polaris WLS(tm) underscores the simplicity of deployment and performance benefits, proving the Polaris product as an ideal choice for rural and metro carriers alike."
