COSTA MESA, Calif., June 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the most trusted name in storage networking connectivity, today announced its LightPulse(r) 4Gb/s LPe1105 Dual Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA) will enable SAN connectivity for the new HP BladeSystem c-Class.
Working with HP as a HP BladeSystem Solution Builder Program member, Emulex designed the 4Gb/s LPe1105-HP HBA specifically for integration into the HP BladeSystem c-Class. This complements the broad array of both PCI Express and PCI-X 4Gb/s Emulex HBAs supported and available now from HP. The innovation inherent to the HP BladeSystem, coupled with Emulex SAN connectivity, enables customers to gain the benefits of high performance SAN storage in an infrastructure that is less costly, more energy efficient, easier to change and takes less time to manage.
The Emulex LightPulse LPe1105 HBA (HP Part No. 403621-B21) for HP BladeSystem c-Class is equipped with a unique firmware-based architecture featuring simple driver management, seamless backward compatibility and independent upgrades to avoid costly hardware changes and ensure long-term investment protection. The LightPulse LPe1105-HP HBA is supported within Linux and Windows environments and provides HP BladeSystem with leading reliability and performance to maximize enterprise functionality.
"As seen in HP's ProLiant and Integrity server families, and now in the new HP BladeSystem, leveraging Emulex's 4Gb/s HBAs significantly increases SAN value by ensuring the most advanced and trusted connectivity solutions," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing for Emulex. "This design win affirms the longstanding commitment from Emulex and HP to develop and deploy the market's leading server and SAN offerings."
"Designed to deliver the best-run IT infrastructure out of the box, the new HP BladeSystem offers tremendous cost savings and the flexibility to change with ever-demanding needs of IT services," said Paul Miller, vice president, marketing, Industry Standard Servers and HP BladeSystem. "We are confident HP BladeSystem will shape the architectural landscape for server blades going forward, and it is critical that HP work closely with its partners, like Emulex, to ensure SAN ecosystem support meets our customers' needs for robust and reliable data center solutions."
Taking a total systems approach to design, the new HP BladeSystem goes beyond solving server issues to providing a complete IT solution within a single box. Using advanced management tools to integrate computing, storage, power, and networking resources, HP BladeSystem functions as a virtualized, self-aware, automated environment. These infrastructures are the next phase of industry-standard architectures and provide a more efficient way to build an infrastructure optimized for change, efficiency, scalability and most importantly, cost savings.
