Shelman, vice president and chief information officer (CIO), won the Stevie(r) Award for Best Management Information Systems (MIS) and Information Technology (IT) Executive in the 2006 American Business Awards(sm).

The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace. The 2006 Stevies were presented at a ceremony in New York City on June 12.
Shelman was honored for his leadership through companywide information technology (IT) organization realignments, Internet computer-virus and worm attacks, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and a significant enterprise resource planning initiative.
Northrop Grumman's internal IT shared services team was also named an American Business Award finalist in the Best MIS and IT Organization category.
As vice president of Information Technology Solutions and CIO of Northrop Grumman, Shelman maintains responsibility for more than $1 billion in IT assets, processes and personnel. He has implemented IT strategy for the corporation as it has grown from a $6 billion to a $30 billion enterprise. He executed an integrated IT shared services model, reducing recurring costs that saved more than $1 billion within a seven-year timeframe. Shelman is a graduate of Texas A&M University, Commerce, Texas.
