Tarwater Appointed Executive Vice President of Sysco Food Services of Baltimore, LLC


HOUSTON, June 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Donald W. Tarwater has been named executive vice president at Sysco Food Services of Baltimore, LLC, a broadline foodservice distribution subsidiary located in Jessup, Maryland. Mr. Tarwater, who currently serves as senior vice president of that operation, will assume his new position effective July 2, 2006, the beginning of SYSCO's fiscal year 2007.

Mr. Tarwater began his SYSCO career in 1991 as assistant controller for the company's Houston operation. He progressed to controller that same year and in 1992 he joined SYSCO's corporate office as a member of the operations review team. Mr. Tarwater relocated to the Baltimore operation in 1994 as controller, advanced to vice president of finance in 1997 and was promoted to his current position in 2000. He is a certified public accountant and currently serves as chairman of the finance expertise committee for SYSCO's Best Business Practices.

Mr. Tarwater was born in Russellville, Alabama and raised in Madison, Alabama. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in 1981, and the University of Houston, where he earned a master of business administration degree in 1993. He and his wife, Cindy, have two daughters and reside in Elkridge, Maryland.
