ITRI's expertise covers the entire vertical chain of design, fabrication and packaging, from component to the system level.

ITRI helped Taiwan's optoelectronics industry establish infrastructures for producing optical disk drives, fax machines, flat-panel displays, printers, and LEDs. In particular, the CD/DVD industry provides an excellent example of rapid growth fueled by technology development introduced through or developed by ITRI.

More About ITRI

The Industrial Technology Research Institute - ITRI - is a non-profit R&D organization engaging in applied research and technical service. It was founded in 1973 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to attend to the technological needs of Taiwan's industrial development. ITRI has played a vital role in the transformation of the economy into high-tech industry model. It has grown to an organization of over 6,000 people, and serves as the technical center for industry and an unofficial arm of the government's industrial policies in Taiwan. Backed by its broad research scope and close industrial ties, ITRI is becoming an increasingly active member in the global industrial R&D community. ITRI derives almost half of its revenue from royalty, contractual research and services, a situation sustainable only by a continuous demonstration of technical excellence and superior business practice.
