Junior League of Orange County Names Angela Rowe President; Announces New Board of Directors


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc. (JLOCC), an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and the leadership of trained volunteers, has named Angela Rowe as its new president and announced the members of its 2006-2007 Board of Directors.

During Rowe's nine years of service with the JLOCC, she has served on the Board of Directors as communications director, community director, vice president and president-elect. Her other leadership roles in the JLOCC include the State Public Affairs Committee, public relations chair and Web site editor. "I am honored to serve as president of the Junior League of Orange County, and hope to encourage growth in the organization as well as strengthen its identity in the community as the JLOCC enters its sixth decade of service in Orange County," said Rowe.

An Orange County resident for 12 years, Rowe, her husband Bob, and their sons Colin and Braden reside in Aliso Viejo, where she sits on the St. Mary's Parent Teacher Fellowship Board. Rowe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Resource Management from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree in Public Policy from Georgia Technical Institute.

Additional members of the 2006-2007 JLOCC Board of Directors are: Heather Anderson (Membership Director) of Aliso Viejo, Meredith Cagle (Projects Director) of Newport Beach, Kelly Crawford (Treasurer) of Laguna Niguel, Jennifer Dewberry (Secretary) of Tustin, Amy Friedli (President-Elect) of Anaheim Hills, Sandra Gee (Fund Development Director) of Placentia, Kathryn Grant (Training Director) of Laguna Beach, Andrea Riles (Vice President) of Newport Beach, Erin Stone (Communications Director) of Ladera Ranch, Kristin Vellandi (Community Director) of Ladera Ranch, and Shannon Zech (Sustainer Representative) of Santa Ana.

As a solely educational and charitable organization, the JLOCC's trained volunteers actively support the community through collaboration with organizations that promote and support the health, safety and education of women and children including Orange County Bar Foundation; Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center; Casa Teresa Inc.; Girls, Inc.; and YMCA of Orange County. The organization awards thousands of dollars in grants and scholarships each year. The JLOCC's signature fundraising event, The Christmas Company, is held each October.
