This Man Survived Both The Great Depression and World War II -- New Book Features Astonishing True Story of Hardship, History and Love

HYATTSVILLE, Md., June 29, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Even during times of crisis and extreme hardship, hope can exist as long as the human spirit is strong and the human mind is focused. An astonishing look at life during The Great Depression and World War II is coming your way as Xlibris releases Miz Suzie's Boy, an epic-like book from author Herman Flora.

Miz Suzie's Boy features the enduring and remarkable story about a young man who grows up in the South during The Great Depression, tells about shooting crows for food, and the impact of World War II on his area. He quits high school at the age of sixteen for an underage enlistment with the United States Army. After three grueling and unpredictable years in the army, he survives eventually as a 1st Sergeant and was eventually discharged as a Staff Sergeant. After returning home, he amazingly finished three years of high school in just eighteen months and eventually meets a preacher's charming daughter whom he married later. In spite of early obstacles, the young man was able to reach his "million dollar goal" and continued to travel great distances looking for new knowledge to learn.

With its detailed historical setting, Miz Suzie's Boy symbolizes the strength of the human spirit and the quest for life's meaning. It reinforces American virtues -- love of country, family values, true grit, the pursuit for love, romance and happiness. Lastly, this book will leave a lasting impact and a sense of inspiration on its readers, especially war veterans, African Americans, historians, boy scouts, fraternities and more. Herman Flora's Miz Suzie's Boy is now available for purchasing online at Xlibris.com, Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com and at your local bookstore.
