PHOENIX, June 30, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SmarterTools Inc., a leading developer of help desk, log analytics and email and collaboration applications, is pleased to announce the availability of SmarterMail 3.3. Included in the latest iteration of the immensely popular mail server application are several minor updates and the inclusion of SmarterMail Sync, a new application that supports the synchronization to either Microsoft Outlook or mobile devices utilizing the Pocket PC operating system. In addition, SmarterMail 3.3 Enterprise Edition introduces licensing changes that not only bring advanced features to a wider audience, but it does so while reducing costs for that audience.
As stated, users of SmarterMail 3.3 Enterprise Edition now have the ability to synchronize either their Microsoft Outlook email clients or mobile devices running the Pocket PC operating system with SmarterMail Sync, a freely-available application SmarterTools built, that expands the functionality and collaborative feature-set within SmarterMail. "We have really listened to customers who use a variety of mail servers, not just those customers using SmarterMail," said Bryon Grosz, Product Manager for SmarterTools. "There is a consistent request that the capabilities of Microsoft's Exchange Server should be available, cost-effectively, to small businesses that utilize either shared hosting companies or who install a mail server internally. The functionality we've built into this latest release takes giant steps to fill these gaps."
In terms of licensing changes, SmarterMail 3.3 Enterprise Edition now comes in a 50-domain license version. Previously, the Enterprise Edition of SmarterMail was only available at a minimum of 250 domains. "Again, this is really a step to allow small businesses to get a set of features that mimic the Microsoft Exchange platform, but for less than $400.00," continued Grosz.
With both of these advancements, SmarterTools looks to expand its reach into the small business market while continuing to provide ISPs and web hosting companies with a stable and reliable mail server platform.
