ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., July 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Friends of Canyon Acres (FOCAS) and the Yorba Linda Country Club today announced they will co-sponsor the 21st Annual "Par Fore Kids" Golf Classic. On Monday, July 31, 2006, the event, co-chaired by Lowry Alkire and Dorothy Kleinbauer, will be held at the Yorba Linda Country Club, and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to help the abused children of Canyon Acres Children and Family Services.
Canyon Acres is the only facility in Orange County and surrounding areas that serves the most severely abused and emotionally troubled children ages 6 through 17. Since 1980, Canyon Acres has been providing the highest level of care, therapeutic treatment and, most importantly, a home, to Southern California children who suffer from a variety of emotional and psychological disorders. These disorders result from family histories of child abuse, substance abuse, domestic violence and mental illness. In caring for these children, Canyon Acres is recognized as a model for agencies in the area based on their ability to move children into less restrictive environments as their functioning levels improve.
For many years, this golf classic has proven to be an exciting and prosperous fundraiser attracting prominent corporate interest. This year's event includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, a full day of golf, a tee bag full of merchandise, live and silent auction, opportunity prizes and tournament contests including a hole-in-one opportunity to win a Mercedes Benz sponsored by Caliber Motors.
