Fujitsu Selects Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs to Offer Robust SAN Connectivity for Flexible Mission-Critical IA Server Technology

Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST Mission-Critical IA Server Series Utilizes PCI Express and PCI-X HBAs to Enhance Next-Generation Storage Systems

COSTA MESA, Calif., July 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the most trusted name in storage networking connectivity, today announced that Fujitsu Limited has selected the Emulex LightPulse(r) 4Gb/s PCI Express and PCI-X host bus adapters (HBAs) for use with the PRIMEQUEST 420, PRIMEQUEST 440 and PRIMEQUEST 480 enterprise servers.

The Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST high-end Itanium 2 servers are best suited for enterprises running mission-critical applications. They are also designed with the flexibility to handle mixed I/O environments and support Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs in both Linux and Windows operating environments. The Emulex 4Gb/s PCI Express and PCI-X dual channel HBAs function over 50 percent faster than competing HBAs in mixed I/O transactions, which is critical for large-scale enterprise applications. Typical applications for the Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server series include large-scale database systems and online transaction processing environments.

"PRIMEQUEST servers support the ever-increasing need for business agility due to their inherent ability to adapt to planned or unplanned change-requests, which is important in enterprise installations," said Takato Noda, General Manager, Mission Critical IA Server Division at Fujitsu Limited. "Utilizing Emulex HBAs within PRIMEQUEST server environments helps to ensure the robustness, scalability and performance that end users demand. The additional SAN management capabilities derived from Emulex HBAs are also a key value proposition for our enterprise customers."

"Fujitsu has designed a highly-flexible, scalable server architecture and their selection of Emulex HBAs for SAN connectivity ensures complementary solutions for customers attaching the PRIMEQUEST servers to SANs," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing at Emulex. "Integrating Emulex 4Gb/s PCI Express and PCI-X HBAs enables Fujitsu customers to leverage automatic speed negotiation capabilities, which ensures a seamless integration into existing 1Gb/s and 2Gb/s Fibre Channel SAN environments. Additionally, Emulex hardware-independent HBA architecture provides simplified management and enables driver and firmware upgrades independent of the hardware."

throughput and I/O processing, ideal for real-world application
environments. Dynamic Frame Multiplexing is another exclusive
Emulex feature designed to consistently provide superior
performance in mixed workload environments, such as disk and tape
    back-up.

-- Fastest Diagnosis and Recovery -- Ensures fast and efficient SAN
troubleshooting with comprehensive diagnostics, detailed event
    logging and tracing.

-- Broadest Enterprise Deployments -- With the largest installed base
of HBAs, Emulex SAN connectivity solutions are trusted by the
