"Novell distribution and support for Emulex HBA drivers as part of SUSE Linux Enterprise 10, including Xen-based virtualization and Device Mapper, support Novell's High Availability Storage Foundation, provide users with the assurance of high-quality, production-ready storage connectivity solutions."

The Xen server virtualization environment provided as part of SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 enables users to implement multiple server images on a single hardware platform, as part of server consolidation projects. Emulex drivers, which are distributed and supported by Novell as part of its SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 Xen environment, provide a Fibre Channel connectivity capability that is essential to the deployment of server virtualization programs. Additionally, Device Mapper, a fully Open Source storage capability operating seamlessly with industry leading storage arrays and fabric connectivity products, including Emulex HBAs, exemplifies the focus on building robust connectivity solutions based on open storage interfaces. Emulex has been working closely with industry leader server and storage partners in designing, testing and qualifying end-to-end multipathing storage connectivity solutions.

"True to its leadership role in enterprise storage connectivity, Emulex has been unveiling a series of ground-breaking initiatives to enhance functionality of SAN-attached virtual servers," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of Worldwide Marketing for Emulex. "Coming on the heels of successful technology demonstrations at CeBIT, LinuxWorld, Intel Developer's Forum and other venues, Novell's delivery of a fully supported Xen environment integrating Emulex drivers is a major milestone in the deployment of Emulex Virtual HBA solutions."
