EMS Wireless General Manager Gerald Hickman Retires


ATLANTA, July 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that Gerald Hickman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of its EMS Wireless division, is retiring from the business and will be moving to the Tennessee mountains, where he and his wife will be building a new home. Paul Domorski, President and Chief Executive Officer, reported that the company had begun a search for Hickman's replacement, and that Domorski would act as the division's general manager in the interim period.

Domorski said, "Gerald played a key role in developing our EMS Wireless division, as co-founder of the business in 1993. He served as Vice President of Sales at EMS Wireless until he was appointed general manager in March of 2000. Gerald's accomplishments with EMS Technologies are many. He led the EMS Wireless business through a volatile and challenging period, during which it achieved more than $80 million in 2005 revenues. All of us at EMS thank Gerald for his contributions, and we wish him and his wife, Par Lee, many years of health and happiness in retirement."

Before joining EMS in 1988, Gerald served as product line manager of the Radar Cross-Section and Instrumentation product lines for Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. While at Scientific-Atlanta, from 1967 until 1988, he served in many capacities, including division manager, and held key marketing and research positions.

Among his many impressive accomplishments, Gerald contributed to two antenna industry books and has authored several papers published in technical journals, including Physical Review, The Journal of Applied Physics and The Review of Scientific Instruments. He has been an active affiliate of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Association of Old Crows, and the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association.
