Douglas Lake Minerals Announces Initial Gold Exploration Results of 93.9 Grams Per Ton - Approximately 3 Ounces Per Ton

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 18, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Harp Sangha, CEO / President of Douglas Lake Minerals Inc. (OTCBB:DLKM) announced the company's initial exploration results at their Morogoro Concession 30 kilometers (20 miles) west of Morogoro in East Central Tanzania. This property, which is approximately 26 kilometers (18 miles) long by six kilometers (4 miles) wide currently has more than 150 artisan miners working two areas 4.5 km (3 miles) apart on strike with a central "milling" facility. Twenty-five kg. (55 pound) sacks of hand-cobbed, hand-crushed ore are milled in two 45 gallon drum-sized "ball mills." One hundred and fifty men are reportedly producing 100-150 grams (4-6 ounces) of gold from approximately 1 ton of processed material.

As a point of reference President Harp Sangha stated, "Although much work still needs to be done to prove up the Morogoro property the fact that many of the worlds most profitable mines including Newmont's operations in Nevada pull grades of around 2grams per ton our initial results of 93.9 grams per ton gives us much to be excited about."

Local miners first discovered this gold rich zone in May 2004, Douglas Lake geologists have been on the property 8 times over the past 20 months (a full-time geologist has been on site for the last four months) with each visit the mining activity has increased, the identified strike has increased and the potential for this property to be a viable gold producing mine is becoming clearer as the miners, through their rudimentary methods, are accomplishing millions of dollars of exploration work on Douglas Lake's behalf.

A confidant Harp Sangha stated that "We were encouraged by the initial test results we got back from the Teck Cominco Gold Discovery Labs. Based on these results Douglas Lake's joint venture partner will begin an aggressive work program to begin immediately. Because of the work done by local miners, drill targets have been identified and a 2500 meter (8000 feet) drill program will commence as soon as the drill rig arrives mid to late August.

"Tanzania hosts multiple gold discoveries greater than 10 million ounces. It is discoveries of this size that Douglas Lake and its joint venture partners are exploring for. This summer's drill program will give us a good indication if Morogoro will be the next great Tanzanian discovery."

Initial grab sample results include the following:

About the Morogoro Concession

The dominant lithology at Morogoro consists of a northerly striking, gently east dipping package of well-layered amphibolite grade biotitic paragneiss likely derived from graywackes. Thin layers (centimetric) of garnetiferrous quartzite (chert) and lean magnetite iron formation are present as are occasional metric amphibolite layers representing mafic dykes or sills. A fairly massive quartzite unit occurs immediately above the currently mined mineralized interval and may provide a useful marker.

Mineralization in the form of fine visible gold occurs in 1 mm to 10 cm scale foliaform quartz veinlets and / or silicified zones. These mineralized intervals appear concentrated in more deformed portions of the paragneiss and may aggregate two to locally 15% of the rock mass over 3 to 6+ m intervals. Limonite, manganese staining is common and scorodite-plumbojarosite was noted associated with some of the highest grade specimens. Base metals (cpy, sp, gn) are present locally associated with garnet-quartzites. High angle, narrow quartz veins are present locally and may contribute to grade.

Morogoro appears to represent a foliation parallel, quartz-low sulphide-visible gold system possibly related to flat faults or deformation zones. Base metals and some early gold may also be related to garnet-quartzite layers.
