HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. Launches Next-Generation SIEGMA 3M3 Portable Atometer Explosives Detection System

IRVINE, Calif., July 26, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:HIET), the homeland security industry leader in neutron-based diagnostic technology, today announced the product launch of its next-generation portable Atometer(tm) detector, the SIEGMA(tm) 3M3, a modular, suitcase-borne explosives detection and confirmatory system.

The novel SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 system incorporates significant design and operational enhancements in both the hardware and software of its predecessor, SIEGMA(tm) 3E3, derived from more than six months of field testing under a cooperative program with the law enforcement community. SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 features a new two-piece ruggedized, modular design which provides for more efficient weight distribution as well as lower weight per unit, resulting in greater portability and ease of handling for the operator. SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 also features an innovative and proprietary sensor head configuration created for enhanced detection and target interrogation capabilities.

At the heart of the SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 is a new and improved core system developed by HiEnergy's scientific and engineering staff, which features a parallel system architecture for improved system stability and lower routine maintenance time and servicing requirements, as well as a common engineering platform for more flexible deployment options which can be configured or integrated with the operational needs of the customer in mind. This improved core system is expected to be integrated into current and future products, including HiEnergy's STARRAY(tm), robot-borne detector of IEDs, landmines and unexploded ordnance.

"These marked system enhancements, incorporated into the design and specifications of HiEnergy's newest SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 system, are a culmination of many months of focused development work by our talented scientific and engineering staff, and the successful translation of critical data, operator feedback and reporting collected by our dedicated field technicians deployed with the SIEGMA(tm) 3E3 system over the last six months," stated Roger Spillmann, HiEnergy's President and CEO. "We are most confident that these design improvements, as well as the time and resources invested, will allow us to better address the operational needs of our target market and result in greater market acceptance of our products within the homeland security and defense industry."

The new SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 system will be marketed by HiEnergy Technologies, together with its resellers and partners, to the first responder community within local, state and federal governmental agencies, including transit authorities, airport and rail operators, and bomb squads, as well as to the military and private security services companies. The system will be sold in conjunction with HiEnergy's Equipment Technical Assistance Program, an integrated suite of services available to purchasers of its ground-breaking explosive detection products, including hands-on equipment training, local equipment support, including calibration, maintenance and servicing, and radiation safety certification and licensing.

About the SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 System

The SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 is a modular mobile, suitcase-borne explosives detection and confirmation system, incorporating HiEnergy's proprietary and industry leading Atometry(tm) technology. Unlike x-ray and other conventional detection methods, HiEnergy's Atometry(tm) technology is unique in its ability to detect and confirm whether an object or container carries a select group of dangerous or illicit substances, such as explosives, biological agents, or illicit drugs, with a probability of detection equal to approximately 97.75%, while drastically reducing or eliminating false alarms. Combined with its modular, portable design and stand-off capabilities the SIEGMA(tm) 3M3 is particularly well-suited for the interrogation and detection of terrorist-made bombs, or Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), as well as addressing the significant problems posed by unattended or suspicious bags or packages.

About HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. (www.hienergyinc.com)

HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. is the creator of the world's first "stoichiometric" diagnostic devices that can effectively decipher chemical composition of unknown substances through metal or other barriers, almost instantly and without human intervention. HiEnergy's Atometer(tm) devices incorporate a proprietary interrogation process which activates a selected target with neutrons causing the contents to emit back gamma rays that contain unique signatures from which the chemical formulas are derived. HiEnergy believes its Atometry(tm) technology compares with other detection technologies like color photography compares with black-and-white photography.

HiEnergy is focused on the commercialization and sale of its portable, suitcase-borne SIEGMA(tm) systems; the CarBomb Finder(tm) 3C4, a vehicle-borne system, for the detection and identification of car bombs; and the STARRAY(tm), its robot-borne detector of IEDs, landmines and unexploded ordnance. The Company is marketing its devices to governmental and private entities and is negotiating licenses for distribution of its devices with various industry partners. The Company also continues to focus on the research and development of additional applications of its technologies and their further exploitation, both internally and through collaboration with third parties.
