TASER Device Ends Armed Standoff, Prevents Suicide

WASHINGTON, July 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from KOCO ABC Channel 5 in Oklahoma City, a Midwest City man is in custody today after a three hour standoff with police last night that ended just before midnight. Police say they received a call from a man, later identified as Roy Garrett, just after 9:00 p.m. claiming that he had set a fire in Midwest City. Garrett later called back saying he had a gun and was waiting for police to arrive at his Coe Drive home.

Police arrived to find Garrett barricaded inside his home and refusing to come out alive. Negotiators finally persuaded Garrett to come onto the porch of the house and he did so while carrying three knives. Once he stepped out onto the porch police were able to use a TASER(r) device to subdue him. Garrett was taken to a local hospital for mental evaluation.
