Newly Launched JewishCharities.org Offers a New Twist on Aid

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- As the conflict in the Middle East intensifies, many are wondering how they can help Israel and her people.

A young real estate investor and developer in Los Angeles is providing a way for those who may not know where to turn and continue his family's humanitarian efforts at the same time.

30 year old Jordan Simons has just launched a web site with links to several charities that serve those in need in Israel; especially during this conflict. The charities range from aiding Israeli children to military families.

Why is he doing this? Simons says, "I am proud of my family's long history of supporting Israel. My grandfather was a concentration camp liberator during the Holocaust; later a soldier in the Israeli army and a strong supporter of Israel until his death in 1999. I feel this is the least I can do to honor his legacy and in this small way continue my family's dedication to the state of Israel."

Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert agrees. In a letter to Simons he said, "I believe this is a wonderful way to honor your late grandfather and I hope that it will prove successful in achieving its aims of providing an easy way for people to make donations to causes close to their hearts."

Simons' www.JewishCharities.org is doing just that.

Visitors can familiarize themselves with a number of charities then click on the provided link to get more information and make a donation directly to the charity of their choice.

Simons has a much larger vision for his site, but says for now, he is concentrating on Israel's immediate needs during this crisis.
