Police TASER Device Used to Prevent Tomahawk Attack


WASHINGTON, Aug. 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from New York's Press & Sun-Bulletin, a Village of Deposit police officer was able to use a TASER(r) device on Thursday night to disarm Jeffrey J. Moore, 39, of a tomahawk.

When an officer pulled Moore over at Court and Front Streets, Moore got out of the car, charged at the officer and refused to put down his weapon. The officer was able to use his TASER device to incapacitate Moore and take him into custody.

Moore was taken to Broome County Jail and charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, a felony; and numerous misdemeanor and vehicle and traffic charges. He is being held without bail.
