According to a recent article by Greg Gordon, published by the Sacramento Bee, the "Federal Government's $28 billion crash program to defend against a bio-terror attack is beginning to show up in cities across the country." Many potential terrorist targets in the Capitol are equipped with some sort of air-purifying systems, which is a vivid indication of the urgency of the situation. But as Tara O'Toole, a cofounder of the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Bio-security, recently told Congress, "the U.S. does not yet have a coherent bio-defense strategy...that takes into account the spectrum of possible bio-weapons agents, including engineered threats."
