Zephyr Environmental to Conduct a Portland Cement Industry Enforcement Workshop

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Zephyr Environmental Corporation will be conducting a one-day workshop to help managers, corporate counsel, and environmental professionals in the cement industry for EPA's recently announced enforcement initiatives directed toward the cement manufacturing industry.

As reported in the May 26, 2006 edition of Inside EPA, the EPA is now targeting cement plants for enforcement activity, including a new focus on air toxics rules and new source review (NSR) requirements. This is reportedly part of EPA's plan to adjust its priorities away from NSR enforcement at electric utilities. EPA's shifting enforcement priorities have reportedly been one outcome of the agency's new scrutiny of compliance with air toxics rules under the maximum achievable control technology (MACT) program.

A knowledgeable slate of speakers is confirmed for the workshop, including cement industry representatives, environmental attorneys experienced in the cement industry, as well as state and federal regulators. The workshop will take place on August 31, 2006 at the Hilton in downtown Austin, Texas. For a detailed agenda and to get registration details, see this link:
