Elder Health Selects Foundry Networks for Complete Network Redesign

Elder Health Improves Business Efficiency and Operations Reliability With Advanced Network Infrastructure

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 23, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that Elder Health, a provider of simplified and affordable Medicare Advantage health plans in four states plus Washington, D.C., has redesigned their network infrastructure with Foundry's high-performance switches to improve network control, increase reliability and leverage the benefits of Power over Ethernet (PoE) throughout their distributed locations.

Prior to the implementation of Foundry Networks' FastIron(r) Series of PoE switches, BigIron(r) Series of core switches and ServerIronGT Series of application switching solutions, Elder Health's flat network architecture lacked the flexibility and feature set required to completely support their growing organization. By migrating to Foundry's scalable solutions, Elder Health is now able to fully manage and control their network to support additional users and advanced applications, including Voice over IP (VoIP), streaming video and data services. The ability for Elder Health to smoothly migrate to 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) as their business demand increases eliminates expensive and time intensive fork lift upgrades which further increases their return on investment (ROI).

"Our Foundry-powered network has enabled us to implement and manage new applications and communication devices more efficiently than ever before," said George Davidsen, director of Information Networks at Elder Health. "In addition to Foundry's price for performance and high-density Class 3 PoE advantages for our VoIP network, their exceptional customer support has made network upgrades seamless."

Elder Health's network backbone is built using the award-winning BigIron RX Series of switches providing high availability, increased capacity, and improved security throughout their dispersed sites. Foundry's ServerIronGT switches deliver advanced load balancing for Elder Health's mission critical Web servers, ensuring business continuity while also delivering the convenience of a pre-equipped appliance and the form factor traditionally only available on a PC platform, without sacrificing high availability, expandability and performance upgradeability to meet current and future business needs. At the network edge, the FastIron switches provide users with high-density PoE and low-latency, hardware-based switching to enable high-quality integration of IP voice, video and data services.

"We are pleased Elder Health selected Foundry Networks' enterprise solutions for their end-to-end network redesign," said Bob Schiff, vice president and general manager for Foundry Networks' enterprise business unit. "Elder Health has prepared itself well for years to come. Their upgraded network provides the security, reliability, scalability and convergence-readiness to meet the demands of their rapidly growing voice, video and data needs."
