VeraTech Aero Receives Patents for Low Visibility Surveillance Aircraft

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn., Aug. 23, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Aerospace company VeraTech has been granted patents on their cutting edge unmanned surveillance aircraft known as the Phantom Sentinel series. Designed with military and law enforcement users in mind, the Phantom Sentinel series uses cutting edge technology to change the face of modern day surveillance. VeraTech also has pending patents on their hi-speed camera and adverse weather stability components of the Phantom series.

The battery operated Phantom Sentinel series rotorcraft is designed to capture live action video without being seen. "This 'phantom' series of surveillance UAVs has the inherent ability to hover over a large crowd in a complicated urban setting, and deliver close range reconnaissance video while remaining virtually invisible," VeraTech's President, Dean Tangren, said.

One of the ways this is possible is through the theory of persistence of vision. In the case of the Phantom Sentinel series, it occurs because every part of the vehicle is in constant motion and the center of mass is located outside of the fuselage. The design of the series combines vertical take off and landing capability with a 360 range of movement, maximizing surveillance potential. The self-leveling design of the lightweight Phantom series allows for not only portability, but versatility, meaning that not only can the vehicle be launched from the ground, but also from a moving aircraft. The design also allows for scalability, offering increased flexibility in potential uses.

The new Phantom Sentinel series of UAV's will be showcased at the upcoming AUVSI's Unmanned Systems Symposium and Exhibition in Orlando, FL this month also. For more information on this event, please visit: http://www.auvsi.org/symposium/RegBroch06.pdf.
