TASER Device Prevents Attempted Murder

WASHINGTON, Aug. 23, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from Fort Wayne, Indiana's The Journal Gazette, an Angola man, who already faces charges for an armed robbery from earlier this year, is back in police custody after trying to kill his half brother with a knife. Justin Jon Vice, 19, was arrested Saturday morning after police received reports at 4:45 a.m. of a fight at his mother's Angola home. Officer Brian Snyder arrived to hear yelling coming from the house, and after forcing his way inside, found Vice's mother screaming as she directed him to the bedroom where Vice was attempting to stab his half-brother, Brandon Krzeminski, with a knife as they fought on a bed. Police later learned that Vice was angry about the way Krzeminski treated his mother.

Another officer arrived at the house and, using a TASER(r) device, was able to subdue Vice after he dropped the knife but refused to cooperate with police. Krzeminski sustained bites on his arm and shoulder and had red marks around his neck. Vice was treated at Cameron Memorial Hospital for a forehead wound before being taken to Steuben County jail where he faces attempted murder charges. Vice's blood-alcohol content at the time of his arrest was 0.23.
