HERNDON, Va., Aug. 30, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Thomas F. Fallon, Jr. vice president of mission assurance for the company's Technical Services sector.

In this position, Fallon has executive responsibility for sector-wide mission assurance and Six Sigma functions to improve quality, increase productivity and provide predictable program performance.

Mission assurance is a disciplined application of systems engineering, cost and risk estimation modeling, quality management, lessons learned and program-management principles to achieve 100 percent mission success. It is a proactive application of risk management which ensures that technical capabilities being delivered on programs meet customer expectations.

Since joining Northrop Grumman in 1974, Fallon has held a variety of professional and management positions of increasing responsibility in quality, engineering, manufacturing and program management. He served most recently as the director of quality assurance at the company's Electronic Systems sector.

Fallon earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University and a master's degree in business administration from Babson College. He has completed the Six Sigma Green Belt certification program at the University of Michigan.
