Virco Donates Furniture to Family On Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Virco (AMEX:VIR) has generously donated classroom furniture from its best-selling ZUMA(r) line to an Alaskan family featured in the 2006 season premier of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The 2-hour program will air on Sunday, September 24, at 8:00 pm Pacific Time on ABC.

As America's leading manufacturer and supplier of furniture and equipment for K-12 schools, Virco has also sponsored a series of Classroom Makeovers with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). These Classroom Makeovers are benefiting students and teachers at various schools through the donation of leading-edge Virco products.

"It's our pleasure to provide the Rogers family with Virco furniture through Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," said Larry Wonder, Virco's Vice President of Sales. "Like our Classroom Makeover program, this is a great opportunity to be of service to people who need our furniture."

The Rogers family featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is headed by Betsy Rogers, a single mother of eight. Known and respected throughout her community of North Pole, Alaska, as a caring person with strong values, Betsy has home-schooled each of her children until their entry into high school. The furniture donated by Virco will be used by the Rogers family for home schooling.

Along with ergonomically contoured, cantilever-frame ZUMA chairs and desks, Virco's gift to the Rogers family includes a comfortable, easily adjustable Ph.D.(r) Series task chair, and a versatile clover-shaped activity table for group learning. The family will also receive four ZUMA 13" seat-height chairs that are great for younger kids.

After opening for business in 1950 with just one customer, Virco has grown to become the country's leading furniture manufacturer for the K-12 market. Virco products include the visionary ZUMA(r) collection, honored with a prestigious Best of NeoCon(r) 2004 Editors' Choice Award. In addition, Virco's industry-leading resource recovery and recycling achievements have been repeatedly recognized by local, state and national organizations. The company's most important honor was announced in 2003, when the United States Environmental Protection Agency designated Virco as a charter member of its WasteWise Hall of Fame.
