Country Star Mark Wills to Present Donation for Family of Corporal Michael Young

TASER Foundation Has Granted $1,000,000 to the Families of Fallen Officers

ATLANTA, Sept. 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Country recording star and Georgia native, Mark Wills will present a financial gift for the family of Corporal Michael Young. Mark Wills serves as the Honorary Chairman for the TASER Foundation for Fallen Officers and is a reserve deputy for Montgomery County, GA.

Mark will present the check today at the Georgia State Patrol headquarters in Atlanta to Commissioner Bill Hitchens, who is the Chief Executive of the Department of Public Safety and holds the rank of Colonel in the Georgia State Patrol. Corporal Young was killed in the line of duty on August 19, 2006 in Brunswick, GA when his patrol vehicle hydroplaned and crossed the median while responding to an assistance call.

"I am humbled and honored to make this presentation to the Georgia State Patrol which will provide this gift directly to Corporal Young's family. I know it cannot lessen the pain of their loss but perhaps it can provide some token of comfort to them to know that their loved one is remembered for his valor," said Mr. Wills.

The TASER Foundation for Fallen Officers was established in November 2004, by TASER International, Inc. The TASER Foundation has distributed over $1,000,000 to families of officers lost in the line of duty from the United States and Canada. Its program is designed to fill the gap between an officer's death and when pensions and other benefits begin. Since TASER International bears the administration costs for the Foundation, 100% of all proceeds go directly to the families of fallen officers.
