Waste Management Statement: Federal Mediation Helps Resolve Contract Dispute


SEATTLE, Sept. 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Eric Rose, spokesperson for Waste Management issued the following statement:

Federal mediation has resulted in a tentative settlement between Waste Management and Teamsters Local 174. This tentative agreement will be submitted for ratification before the full membership Tuesday evening and has the full support and recommendation of the Union bargaining committee.

Both parties have agreed not to comment on the details of the contract until the membership has had the opportunity to vote.

As part of the agreement, trash collection will resume on a regular schedule on Monday, with all employees returning to work. The current contract covers 35 mechanics that work at the company's facilities in North King County and Snohomish County.
