TASER Technology Ends Suicidal Confrontation


WASHINGTON, Sept. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from the Santa Cruz Sentinel, an intoxicated Watsonville man threatened police with a baseball bat while attempting to take his life Monday evening on a dock at Pinto Lake County Park. 23-year-old Abraham Diaz-Pinto cut his wrist with a razor blade earlier in the evening in response to a fight with his spouse before fleeing to the park. It is there that he called his spouse to say he planned to commit suicide.

Deputies arrived at the dock at 6:50 p.m. where Diaz-Pinto challenged officers with his bat. Police responded by subduing the man with a TASER device.

Diaz-Pinto was treated for cuts to his wrist at a local hospital before being transported to the County Jail on charges ranging from displaying a weapon to threatening a peace officer.
